Generating Converging Eigenenergy Bounds for the Discrete States of the −ix3 Non-Hermitian Potential

چکیده
Recent investigations by Bender and Boettcher (Phys. Rev. Lett 80, 5243 (1998)) and Mezincescu ( J. Phys. A. 33, 4911 (2000)) have argued that the discrete spectrum of the non-hermitian potential V (x) = −ix3 should be real. We give further evidence for this through a novel formulation which transforms the general one dimensional Schrodinger equation (with complex potential) into a fourth order linear differential equation for |Ψ(x)|2. This permits the application of the Eigenvalue Moment Method, developed by Handy, Bessis, and coworkers (Phys. Rev. Lett. 55, 931 (1985);60, 253 (1988a,b)), yielding rapidly converging lower and upper bounds to the low lying discrete state energies. We adapt this formalism to the pure imaginary cubic potential, generating tight bounds for the first five discrete state energy levels.

We show that a recently developed method for generating bounds for the discrete energy states of the non-hermitian −ix3 potential (Handy 2001) is applicable to complex rotated versions of the Hamiltonian. This has important implications for extension of the method in the analysis of resonant states, Regge poles, and general bound states in the complex plane (Bender and Boettcher (1998)).

متن کاملGenerating Discrete Trace Transition System of a Polyhe-dral Invariant Hybrid Automaton
Supervisory control and fault diagnosis of hybrid systems need to have complete information about the discrete states transitions of the underling system. From this point of view, the hybrid system should be abstracted to a Discrete Trace Transition System (DTTS) and represented by a discrete mode transition graph. In this paper an effective method is proposed for generating discrete mode trans...

Abstract. We solved numerically the implicit, trascendental equation that defines the eigenenergy surface of a degenerating isolated doublet of unbound states in the simple but illustrative case of the scattering of a beam of particles by a double barrier potential. Unfolding the degeneracy point with the help of a contact equivalent approximant, crossings and anticrossings of energies and widt...
متن کاملMODELLING AND ANALYSIS OF A DISCRETE-TIME PRIORITY QUEUING COMPUTER NETWORK WITH PRIORITY JUMPS USING PROBABILITY GENERATING FUNCTIONS
Priority queues have a great importance in the study of computer communication networks in which different types of traffic require different quality of service standards. The discrete-time non-preemptive priority queuing model with priority jumps is proposed in this paper. On the basis of probability generating functions mean system contents and mean queuing delay characteristics are obtained....
